Memorial Point Scenic Overlook
If you only stop once on the Nevada side, make it Memorial Point. It sits right on Highway 28 a few minutes south of Incline Village — about 20 minutes from Tahoe Vista — with parking steps from the railing and short paths down toward the granite boulders. The water below shifts from turquoise to deep blue in a way that no photo quite captures, and because it takes two minutes to see, it fits into any drive around the lake.
Sand Harbor
Just past Memorial Point, Sand Harbor State Park is the most photographed shoreline in Tahoe — sculpted boulders, coves, and clear shallows. It is absolutely worth it, with one caveat: in summer the lot fills before mid-morning, and once it is full, it is full. Go early, go at sunset, or go in the off-season. The short Sand Point nature trail loops around a rocky peninsula with views in every direction.
Stateline Fire Lookout
Above Crystal Bay, a short, mostly-paved trail climbs to the site of an old fire lookout straddling the California–Nevada line. The payoff is a sweeping panorama over Kings Beach, Tahoe Vista, and the whole North Shore — arguably the best effort-to-view ratio in the basin. It is ten minutes from the lodge, and interpretive signs along the loop explain what you are looking at.
The drive in: Brockway Summit
If you arrive via Highway 267 from Truckee, the lake reveals itself all at once as you crest Brockway Summit — one of the great arrival moments in Tahoe. There is no formal viewpoint, so enjoy it through the windshield and save your stop for the shoreline below.
Sunset from the sand
For sunset, locals skip the overlooks and walk onto the beach. The Kings Beach and Tahoe Vista shoreline faces the long axis of the lake, so on the right evening the whole sky goes copper and pink over the water. Moondunes Beach and the Tahoe Vista Recreation Area are both quiet, close, and pointed the right way.
